I’m a copywriter and your business’s newest ride-or-die fan. I write words for every stage and season of your business to help make your moment, the moment.
There is simply no feeling more embarrassing than after someone tells you that you need to “chill out.”
If you know, you know– but truly, I hope you don’t.
The way I feel after being told I need to “tone it down” or that I’m being “kind of a lot” is, quite literally, the worst feeling in the world.
Growing up, I hated being known as the one in the friend group who was “a bit much.”
A little too loud. A little too out there. Never quiet or mysterious or cool, calm, and collected.
I tried (and failed) to tone it down, and then one day I realized… I actually like being a bit much.
I like knowing that maybe I’m not a bit much, you’re just not enough (period.)
The same is true in business, especially for creative entrepreneurs and personal brands. By including your personality, however over-the-top it might be, you’re inviting in similarly a over-the-top audience who’s been searching for someone just like you, to do exactly what you do, exactly the way that you do it.
The very things that make you stand out—your bold personality and over-the-top ideas—are what can set you and your brand apart in a crowded market.
In a sea of sameness and sad-beige-baby branding, the last thing you want is for your business to blend in. People remember brands that break the mold and stand out from the competition. Your personality is a powerful tool for creating a memorable brand identity. Whether you’re using bold messaging, playful language, or unique visuals, your personality makes your business unforgettable.
For creative businesses, personality isn’t just an asset—it’s a necessity. Your ideal clients aren’t looking for a cookie-cutter solution; they want someone who dares to be different. By leaning into your over-the-top tendencies, you give them a reason to choose you.
The internet is full of polished, overly professional personas. People are craving authenticity, especially in a world where everything looks the same. When you show up as your full self—quirks and all—you’re offering your audience something they can’t resist: you.
Being authentic doesn’t mean being perfect. It means showing the behind-the-scenes, embracing your personality, and connecting with your audience on a deeper level. Your dream clients want to know who you really are, and when you’re unapologetically yourself, they’ll develop a trust for you they wouldn’t have with a more closed-off brand.
Confidence is magnetic. When you own your bold personality, you’re showing your audience that you believe in yourself and what you offer. This kind of confidence is contagious—it draws people in and makes them want to be part of what you’re building.
I mean… would you rather work with someone who asks, “I think my service might help you?” or someone who says, “This is exactly what you need, and here’s why”? Clients are more likely to trust you if you show them that you’re confident in your abilities. By owning your personality, you’re giving them the confidence to say “yes” to working with you.
When you embrace your personality, you naturally attract clients who get you. These are the people who share your values, resonate with your style, and are excited to work with someone as bold as you. They’re your dream clients—the ones who make doing business fun and rewarding.
When you’re unapologetically yourself, you also repel people who aren’t the right fit—and that’s a good thing. Not every client is meant for you, and trying to please everyone only leads to generic, watered-down messaging. By being true to yourself, you make it easy for the right people to find you.
The most successful businesses didn’t get where they are by playing it safe. They took risks, pushed boundaries, and embraced boldness. When you lean into your full personality, you open yourself up to new opportunities and unexpected breakthroughs.
Whether it’s launching a new product, revamping your messaging, or pivoting in a new direction, embracing your over-the-top ideas can lead to the biggest rewards. Playing it safe might seem easier, but boldness is where real growth happens.
Being “a bit much” isn’t a flaw—it’s your superpower. By embracing your full personality in your business, you’ll attract the right clients, build authentic connections, and stand out in a crowded market. So, next time someone tells you to tone it down, remember that what makes you different is what makes you powerful.
With my rule-averse approach and over-the-top tendencies, I help personal brands and creative businesses celebrate their own ‘a bit much’-ness and connect with their dream audiences through irresistible conversion copy.
